NIKON D700

The D700 was released on 7/17/2008. I went to Penn Camera store at Tysons Corner and played with it. Physically, it looks very similar to D300. But it's a full frame camera which can use FX lenses, while D300 is not full frame. Without closely studying the images produced by each camera, I cannot tell the image quality difference among them. Just looking images on the 3-inch LCD screen, all photos look similar to me using D300 or D700.

D700 is a baby version, or downgraded version of D3. I had a chance to play with D3 actually. Yes, I love D3 very much. Just looking at LCD screen, images look sharp and vivid. But, of course LCD screen is too small, so you really cannot adjudge too much about the picture quality, which depends on lots of other factors. Importantly, the hand-feeling of D3 is superb: sturdy and friendly.

D300: $1699.00
D700: $2999.00
D3: $4999.00
